What to Expect

New to Pottery? You’re in the right place!

Whether you are completely new or it’s been a while since you touched clay, our experienced instructors are here to guide you and make it a fun and interactive workshop.

  • Unfortunately creating handmade stoneware pieces is a multi-week process. At Pottery Central you will learn the essential steps in order to shape a piece on the potter’s wheel - the fun part! We take are of all of the finish work including footing, bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing.

  • Creating handmade stoneware pottery is a multi-week process and the time can vary based on the volume of workshops. Your instructor will let you know what to expect at the end of your workshop, though typical turnaround times are 4-6 weeks.

    Once your work is through the process, we box everything with your name, and put in a monitored location where you are able to pick up at your convenience, no appointment necessary. You will be contacted once your box is ready for pickup.

  • Pottery Central has hosted just about every occasion! Whether it is a birthday party, professional team building, bachelorette party, or just a fun group outing - you are welcome to bring snacks, decorations, and beverages of your choosing. Just let us know if you need space for setup.

  • Pottery Central welcomes all aged 8 and up. Participants should wear old clothes/shoes, trim nails, wear long hair up, and put jewelry in a safe location. We use clay that doesn’t typically stain, but it is a good idea to expect to get a bit messy.

    No other experience necessary.

  • All pieces are fired to stoneware temperature and are fully vitrified. Finished work will be microwave, dishwasher-safe, and lead-free.

    Please be aware, the process of creating handmade pottery is intricate and while we take every precaution to prevent cracking, it is possible.

  • Construction on Monroe Road has limited parking and the ability to larger ongoing classes. The studio format is in the process of being restructured. Please keep checking back!

  • Pottery will be trimmed with a foot, signed, bisque fired, and glazed with a beautiful combination of Cool Jade, and an accent of Don Davis Blue. While variation should be expected, if you happen to come multiple times, all pieces will match!
