About the Artist.

Andrew P. Linton

For over 30 years Andrew has practiced and taught beginner through advanced ceramics techniques to thousands of students. For over 20 of those years, he has owned and operated a private studio with the goal of making handmade pottery more accessible to the Charlotte, NC community. He designed a program offering beginner workshops for participants to learn the fundamentals of working with clay, and throwing on the wheel, while doing so in a fun and creative atmosphere. In teaching and regularly demonstrating, he has produced his own series' and artwork, much of which is on display in various gallery locations. Andrew’s work has been published in 5 different books (Surface Design for Ceramics, 500 Raku, 500 Plates and Chargers, 500 Bowls, and 500 Teapots), and the studio has been featured in multiple issues of Charlotte Living Magazine. Throughout his career, he has worked with and assisted master potters such as Ron Myers and Chuck Hines, Linda Arbuckle, and Cynthia Bringle during major demonstrations. He has also taught alternative firing at Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. As part of the arts community, he has served as a juror on the North Carolina Scholastic Art Awards panel, reviewing and judging ceramics submissions from young artists all over the state. In addition, Andrew loves to demonstrate the raku firing process for schools and other local organizations, always offering an interactive way to teach the community about ceramics and alternative firing processes.
